- Do you support any other games besides Jedi Knight?
We support VERY FEW games. We pride ourselves in being focused on, and being experts in the Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy communities,
because we know we are best equipped to support those games we understand best.
We're not some faceless host that is trying to support the whole world of games.
If you're interested in non-JK games, please check out our sister site at
HalfLifeHost.com.
- Do you offer Web site or E-Mail hosting?
No, we do not. By staying with JK2 and JKA game servers only, we are able to offer the best pricing known to man!
- Do you offer Private-only server hosting?
Not yet. Since our rates are pretty much for public servers at private server prices, we make no
money for discounting servers further for private-only hosting. We may offer this in the future,
if we can establish a market for it.
- Do you offer discounts for multiple items or pre-payment?
Sometimes, yes. Please contact us with what you have in mind, and we'll talk!
- Do you offer discounts or compensation for referrals?
Of course! Anyone bringing in a referral who becomes a customer will receive one free month of
game server hosting. Both the customer and the referral must remain customers for the next three months
before the free month is awarded. Refer a new customer every month and your hosting will be free forever!
- Do you sponsor or offer free servers in exchange for advertising?
If you have a Web site that gets LOTS of traffic, or if you have a major scheduled event
that gets LOTS of players, please contact us. We might be interested in offering
a free game server. We do not sponsor clans, ever. Only larger community Web sites. E-mail sent to us
asking, "Can I have a free server?" will be ignored.
- Do you offer part-ownership or profit sharing?
Not at this time.
- How much do the servers cost?
Server pricing for various sizes can be found here.
You'll find that they are incredibly low!
- What is the setup/startup fee?
There is no setup or startup fee! Just pay your first month's rental and we'll set you up!
- How quickly will my server be set up?
We typically set up your server in no more than 1-2 business days (weekdays), after confirming your payment.
- What is the server hardware?
Our Central US JediServers.com game servers are hosted on dedicated dual Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz PCs
(4.0 GHz of processor power per box), with 1GB of RAM, and twin mirrored 73GB SCSI hard drives.
Our West Coast US JediServers.com game servers are hosted on dedicated dual Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz PCs
(4.8 GHz of processor power per box), with 1GB of RAM, and a 120GB IDE hard drive.
Our East Coast US JediServers.com game servers are hosted on dedicated dual Intel Xeon 2.6 GHz PCs
(5.2 GHz of processor power per box), with 2GB of RAM, and a 60GB IDE hard drive.
- What is the server connection speed?
Our Central US JediServers.com game servers are on an OC-3 (155 Mbps) system, our
West Coast US JediServers.com game servers are on 1 10Mbps system, and our
East Coast US JediServers.com game servers are on a multiple 100Mbps system. The proximity to
major Internet backbones is quite good in all cases, so we supply great pings to
just about any location. See Question #14 below for IPs that
you can ping and see for yourself. We feel that these bandwidth allowances are
more than adequate for all server needs. While multiple customers may share a single box,
each box has its own dedicated connection, and we keep each one under-utilized
to provide the best performance.
- What is the server software?
All JediServers.com game servers are installed under Red Hat Linux 7.3 or 9.0.
- Where are the servers located?
We offer servers from three major locations. Each location (with test JK2 and JKA IPs for you to ping and to join)
is listed here:
- WEST: San Diego, California, USA
JK2: 216.55.166.60
JKA: 216.55.167.108
- CENTRAL: Houston, Texas, USA
JK2: 66.98.176.201
JKA: 66.98.195.129
- EAST: Washington, DC, USA
JK2: 69.31.5.133
JKA: 69.31.5.147
- Will I get my own IP or just a port?
Each JediServers.com game server gets its own unique IP address, with the port generally set up at 28070 or 29070.
- Can I test my ping and connection to JediServers.com?
Absolutely! Just see Question #14 above for a list of IPs to visit. Each will
be different, depending on the location. When you order, please choose the location that
best suits your needs.
- Can I visit a test or customer server to see how it performs?
Yes! Just contact us for a list of customers' servers to visit.
- How many servers do you install on each box?
It varies from box to box. The number of servers we install depends on the amount of resources and bandwidth being used on that box.
We do our best to ensure that all servers on each box are running smoothly!
- Do you perform backups?
We backup all server "cfg" files weekly. We do not backup mod, map, skin, or PK3 files of any kind. If something goes wrong,
you will need to upload your PK3 and mod files again.
- Do I get an FTP Account for uploading maps, skins and mods?
Yes, you have a 500MB FTP account in which you may upload any map, mod, skin or cfg you please.
- Can I run a non-1.04 JK2 patch?
Unfortunately, no. we have not found a sufficiently stable 1.02 or 1.03 Linux-based server application,
and all attempts to offer non-1.04 servers on our Linux platform have met with frequent unpredictable crashes.
If you know of a stable server for the patch you're interested in running, then it's possbile
something can be worked out!
- May I install a mod?
You may run any mod you like! However, it will require a JediServers.com
staff member in order to install it for you.
We will not help you configure your mod. That's your job.
But we will install it for you, usually the same day you request it.
- How do I restart my server?
You may restart your server by typing "/rcon quit" in your console. The server will quit
and automatically restart within 30 seconds. If you find it has not restarted, please
contact us immediately! In addition, we will provide you with
a Web-based login area, where you can perform such tasks as start your server, stop your
server, and clear out cache and log files. Other tools are coming soon!
- May I adjust server settings?
You may adjust any server settings you like, as long as you do NOT change the following:
sv_maxClients: You may not increase the number of player slots beyond the size of the server you are renting.
sv_maxRate: You may not increase the per-player allowed bandwidth beyond 6,000 bytes. This number is quite smooth for all JK2 and JKA players.
If you change the two forbidden server settings, all of your servers will be canceled and you will NOT be given a refund
of unused server time. We monitor those settings continuously.
- May I make my server private if I want to?
Absolutely!
- Do I have to know ASP or PHP to set up the Server Tracker?
Not at all! When you subscribe to our Server Tracker, we issue you a snippet
of HTML code that you only need to paste onto any Web page you want!
- What sites can display the Server Tracker?
Since the tracker is ONLY HTML, any site can display it, even GeoCities or Tripod!
- How do I control my Server Tracker?
You will be given a login username and password at JediServers.com, where you can enter via our
Members Only section. Inside you will be able to tell your Server Tracker what IP
and port it should track, and change your font and background color settings.

taken out of your credit card every month. For manual payments, you will have 10 days AFTER your due-date as a
